Fixtures International was founded in 1945 by August Danburg, a first-generation American who had started out in the dry goods business before turning to store fixtures. August, his wife Rosalie, and their seven children made Houston their home and were proud to be suppliers of quality showcases to customers throughout the city.
In 1964, one of those seven children, David, finished college and began to work full-time at Fixtures, which had operated until 1961 as Danburg's Fixture Company. In a short time, August had retired and David had taken over. August died in 1969, leaving ownership of the company to his wife and son.
David Danburg is still the president and now the full owner of Fixtures International, which incorporated in 1959. His wife Karen has worked with him for twenty-five years, and their daughter Melanie has worked with them for the past nine years. David and Karen's grandchildren enjoy spending time at 'Pops' and Nani's shop' and speculate about how they'll decorate their offices when they take over!
